Blackstone Energy Fund To Close on $2.2B-$2.5B
Blackstone Group LP plans to hold a final close of $2.2 billion to $2.5 billion on its debut energy fund at the end of the month, according to two people familiar with the situation.
Blackstone Energy Partners LP came to market last year aiming to raise as much as $3 billion, according to a private placement memorandum viewed by Bloomberg. The fund, which has closed on more than $2 billion so far, received an extension to raise capital to Aug. 31 from June 30, said the people familiar.
Peter Rose, a spokesman for Blackstone, declined to comment.
Blackstone is among a number of firms raising large energy-focused funds, including Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors LP, Riverstone Holdings LLC and First Reserve Corp.
