German Court Ruling May Approve Bailout Fund Contributions
Germany’s Constitutional Court will rule today whether the country can contribute to the 500 billion-euro bailout fund. The taxpayer-backed fund will be able to lend money to troubled countries that are unable to borrow from investors. The permanent rescue fund cannot commence without Germany’s participation. Angela Merkel may comment on the decision shortly afterwards in a budget debate in parliament.
