Euro-Area Trade Surplus Probably Widened to Record in July
The euro area may have posted a record 15 billion-euro trade surplus in July, according to a Bloomberg survey. Exports from the euro area to the rest of the world rose 12 percent in June from a year earlier, outpacing a 2 percent annual gain in imports and reflecting a weakening of the euro. The single currency was about 14.5 percent lower versus the dollar over the 12 months through July.
